Hex

Hex is a desktop push-to-talk app that turns raw voice dictation into polished AI prompts. Hold a hotkey and speak — your words are transcribed locally in real time, then refined by Claude and ready to paste anywhere.

Why I Built It

I wanted to talk to my computer and have it understand what I meant, not just what I said. Voice dictation gives you a wall of filler words and half-finished thoughts. I needed something that would take that raw stream and shape it into a clear, usable prompt — instantly.

All speech recognition runs locally on your machine using Whisper. No audio ever leaves your device — only the final transcribed text is sent to Claude for refinement.

How It Works

  1. Hold the hotkey and speak. Live transcription streams into the left pane with roughly one second of latency.
  2. Release the hotkey to stop recording. Claude immediately begins refining your raw text, streaming the result into the right pane.
  3. Paste the polished output into any app with a single keystroke.
